Introduction to WordPress
WordPress is the world’s most popular self hosted blogging tool, which has been used by millions of users on their websites worldwide. WordPress is an online, open source content management system (CMS) which allows it’s users to create dynamic websites and blogs.
History – As per the WordPress Codex (official), In 2001 a french programmer Michel Valdrighi developed and launched the blogging tool named as b2/cafelog (http://cafelog.com/) and WordPress is the successor (official) to that. Michel Valdrighi stopped the development of b2 in 2002 and in January 2003, a university fresher student Matt Mullenweg wrote on his blog that he would be interested to create a fork of b2 project with Mike Little. Finally in May 2003 Mat & Mike released the very first version of WordPress. Other people including Michel joined the team soon.
April 2004 was the time when the team along with Dougal Campbell launched the hub named as “Ping-O-Matic” to notify blog search engines about new blog posts and updates.
